Allan Martin, President/CEO and Ruth Martin, Vice President Martin’s Milk Service is a family-owned and operated business providing transportation and warehousing services for dairy and other food commodities. For over 90 years, Martin’s has maintained its position as an industry leader, evolving and growing to efficiently fulfill customer needs and deliver an experience that is hard to compete with.
Martin’s transportation services include delivery of products through its modern Refrigerated fleet of over 200 tractors, 450 refrigerated 53-foot trailers. Its warehousing facilities are clean, well-lit, and equipped with computerized temperature and humidity controls to ensure proper storage of all foods and other sensitive materials. To address warehouse space constraints, Martin’s is focused on building taller facilities to maximize capacity in a smaller footprint. Its AIB certified warehouses are ideal for fast, efficient loading, unloading, and transfer of materials. When it comes to hauling refrigerated and other goods, customers rely on Martin’s to ensure that freight is transported efficiently.
“Our freight brokerage service and Martin’s Refrigerated Express ensure our customers get the best of both worlds. Our temperature-controlled carrier fleets timely transport goods, and our brokerage finds trucks for your loads when capacity is tight. Our warehouses can store food-grade products at safe, ideal temperatures,” says Cody Johnson, general manager at Martin’s Milk Service.
Martin’s caters to diverse customer needs, including scheduling appointments, selecting Department of Transportation-compliant freight carriers, and handling operational issues. Equipped with transportation management and fleet tracking systems, it monitors the temperatures of its trailers and determines their exact location. Any issues that arise are resolved quickly without affecting delivery to customers.
Implementing real-time data communications with its warehouse management system, Martin’s allows customers to control their goods, from viewing inventory counts to initiating or releasing their quality control (QC) holds.
Many customers store their manufactured products that are awaiting QC testing at Martin’s state-of-the-art, refrigerated warehouse facilities. This prevents clients from cluttering their own space and enables them to keep the production running. Its stringent QC procedures assure manufacturers that their products are in safe hands.
Potential customers are briefed in detail about Martin’s processes and temperature tracking features and given site tours, enabling them to make informed decisions before partnering.
A service-first-minded business, Martin’s has withstood the test of time due to its unwavering focus on customer needs, not just the bottom line. It develops enduring relationships with customers built on trust and honesty. All of its prices and related charges are stated in its contracts, which are clear, straightforward, and free of hidden fees or ambiguity.

Martin’s started out by hauling bulk milk from farms to manufacturing plants and gradually expanded its operations to other food commodities, such as cheese, meat, cream, and milk powder. Its warehousing business was set up in 2000 as a single storage facility in Wilton, Wisconsin, eventually expanding to 13 storage facilities. It aims to reach one million square feet of storage space soon. Today, Martin’s refrigerated fleet transports goods across 48 states in the U.S.
“There are various carriers, brokerages, and warehousing companies in the cold chain space today, but almost nobody does them all, especially at the volume we do,” says Johnson.
Offering a distinct blend of services that address all customer challenges, Martin’s stays one step ahead of its competitors in the warehousing and trucking space. It aims to be top of the mind of organizations with cold chain transportation and warehousing needs.
